DesignPhiladelphia returns on Wednesday, October 5 through Sunday, October 16 and highlights work from the city’s best architects, designers and artists through numerous events featuring installments, parties, panel discussions and more!

Here are 10 events to check out this week!

DesignPhiladelphia Kickoff Party
Start off the 2016 DesignPhiladelphia week the right way with the official Kickoff Party on Wednesday, October 5. From 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the party will give guests the chance to mingle with others while checking out architectural relics and an all-out spectacular location.

YAPPY Hour at the SPCA
Do you love dogs like we do? Join the SPCA from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 for Yappy Hour! The special happy hour will include on the spot dog adoptions, drinks, building tours and great photo opportunities. We’ll make sure we bring our BrainDogs!

Improving Health Through Innovation
If you’re interested in problem solving within the healthcare industry, check this event out! This two-day workshop begins on Thursday, Oct. 6 through Friday, Oct. 7 and will teach attendees how to apply problem-solving skills to help improve health care problems in Philadelphia. Following the workshop, each guest will receive a certificate of participation.

Shifting Trends: How Home Has Influenced the Workplace
Do you like cubicles? We don’t either. On Thursday, Oct. 6 Find out what approaches modern day offices are doing to attract employees, and tenants during Shifting Trends: How Home Has Influenced the Workplace. Design elements of all sorts will be out for display. Warning: This event may make you shop for new furniture. Things start at 5:30 p.m.

Intercurrences: Intervening Design Strategies
Get your creative juices flowing during an exhibition of selected work entitled, Intercurrences: Intervening Design Strategies. The exhibit will be open on Thursday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 10 and Thursday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 16 and features graphic design, animation, industrial design and more innovative projects.

CHAD: Design Your Future
Find out what you can do to make a difference as the Charter High School for Architecture hosts an open house on Thursday, October 6. From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the school encourages people to come out and learn about their mission and how they serve Philadelphia’s creative youth.

How Technology is Changing our Homes
Think about how many technology additions you’ve added to your home in the past years. Did you get an Apple TV? A Smart TV? Maybe even an Amazon Echo. The point is, technology changes our homes. Find out about how technology improves our lives at home as Verizon and Philly University will hosts a discussion on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 2:00 p.m.

The Great Innovation Debate!
Designers, it’s time to vote. On Thursday, October 13 Bresslergroup teams up with DesignPhiladelphia, DMI and Penn IPD to host a debate on innovative products created to change society. You decide if they were driven by design research or technology and also talk about what advancements will be created in the near future. Things get started at 6:00 p.m.

Stephen Burks Man Made
Called “America’s Hottest Furniture Designer” by Bloomberg Businessweek, Stephen Burks teams up with the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Friday, October 14 to show off his product/furniture creations that were inspired by craft traditions and industrial manufacturing. Registration is highly recommended!

Creative Mornings
Wake up and smell the creativity! Starting bright and early at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 a group of like-minded individuals will gather together for a group of discussions that will help and motivate their ideas and to bring them to life. The group will meet at the Center for Architectural Design.
